ACHIEVING EQUALITY: 7TH BIG HEARTS DAY FUNDRAISER

We are delighted to announce that our upcoming Big Hearts Day celebrations will be focused on our T.E.A.M programme. This 7th Big Hearts Day will take place on Saturday 4th February, as Heart of Midlothian FC welcome Dundee United FC to Tynecastle Park.

T.E.A.M – short for Together Equality Achieves More – was set up by our charity in 2017, opening a new area of work to support young people from minority backgrounds and low-income families living in the surroundings of Gorgie.

Since then, the weekly after-school project has become a vital part of our strategic ambitions around equal opportunities, mental health and social connections. T.E.A.M is also recognised by the city of Edinburgh Council as a key community service to support young people’s mental health via the Wellbeing Together partnership.

Achieving Equality Together

The programme brings together pupils from local schools who come from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures. By taking part in engaging activities at Big Hearts, they learn to thrive together and achieve equality for a brighter future.

T.E.A.M currently welcomes 15 young people each week, entirely free of charge, to get the opportunity to build new friendships, increase their physical activity and grow in confidence whilst becoming part of a diverse community.

Big Hearts Day fundraiser

For the past 7 years, Big Hearts Day has gathered the Hearts’ family to raise awareness of the challenges addressed by our charity and celebrate our work changing lives through football.

On 4th February, look out for special feature about T.E.A.M on social media and across the Stadium. We encourage all Big Hearts Supporters and Hearts fans to enjoy the match day activities and get involved if they can.

Online donations are now welcome: TEAM fundraiser. Any donation would be grateful received and help Big Hearts grow and develop this essential programme, allowing us to support more families within the local community.

This year Big Hearts Day 2023 is proudly sponsored by Grey Pocket who are throwing their full support behind our T.E.A.M programme!

Dylan Kelly, Grey Pocket Managing Director said: “Having seen Big Hearts work first hand, we are proud to sponsor Big Hearts Day. Some things are more important than football and their activity really does transcend the sport, with their programmes making a massively positive impact on those who need it most. Our support is nothing compared to the passion of the Big Hearts team and on Big Hearts Day we also celebrate them.”
