Big Hearts Gala on 28 October: Welcome Back Roman Bednar!
We can confirm today the return of fan’s favourite Roman Bednar to Gorgie for the 2022 Big Hearts Gala on Friday 28th October!
The 2006 Scottish Cup winner and Czech Striker Roman will headline the Charity Fundraiser in the Gorgie suite, alongside former teammate Edgarars Jankauskas, for what promises to be a memorable night for all Hearts fans!

Roman Bednar joined Hearts after starring for Mlada Boleslav in his home country. He initially joined Hearts on a loan deal from Lithuanian Club FBK Kaunas and was part of the team that went on to split the old firm and win the 2006 Scottish Cup. Roman scored on his Hearts’ debut against Kilmarnock and went on to feature 24 times in 2005/06 scoring – 7 goals including winners against Rangers and Celtic. Roman led the line in the 2006 cup final alongside fellow Gala guest Edgaras Jankauskas.
The start of the 06/07 season saw Hearts compete in the Champions League qualifiers with Roman scoring against Siroki Brijeg. His brilliant start continued in the league with a double against Celtic at Tynecastle Park. National recognition also came at the start of that season when Czech Republic played Serbia. In 2007, Roman moved on to West Brom with the English club paying £2.3M, after an initial loan, and helped them to the English Premier League twice in his 4 years at the club before returning to Czech Republic to star for Sparta Prague and FK Pribram.
