Christmas Update: Help us support 500 people this festive season

Over the holiday season, Big Hearts is hoping to support over 500 local adults and children in crisis.

As we are facing a second winter of the pandemic, we know that Christmas time will be even more challenging for hundreds of low-income families, individuals living alone and those struggling at this specific time of the year.

The past couple of weeks saw a significant increase in requests for support – coming from people involved in our programmes, and from local primary schools and other charitable organisations across Edinburgh. Overall, the number of referrals has doubled since last year.

We want to ensure every single person on our list will receive a free Christmas Day meal delivered at home and a couple of presents specially chosen for them. Please consider donating or volunteering with us this December.

As a community of kind-hearted people, we believe that Big Hearts Supporters can help us keep our promise to deliver Christmas – because no-one in need at Christmas should be left behind.

 URGENTLY NEEDED: GIFT BACK HEROES 

Due to its popularity, our 3rd Gift Back Appeal is only halfway through. With Christmas just around the corner, the countdown is on…  We still have 250 older adults and children on our list, so we are actively looking for kind-hearted supporters keen to buy one or two small presents tailored to the interests of a member of their community. This initiative can be completed in your own time and with the help from friends or colleagues.

 HOW YOU CAN HELP THIS CHRISTMAS:

– Make a one-off donation: Any amount would be much appreciated and the funds will go towards providing food essentials and bespoke gifts. Click here to donate online, or on this link to see alternative options.
