Big Hearts: Our Support this Winter

This winter Big Hearts, the official charity of Heart of Midlothian FC, will spread kindness throughout the local community, supporting those facing loneliness and hardship during what may be a challenging time for many.

Over the past few years our charity provided a covid response, supporting low-income families and individuals living alone who struggled during the winter months.

This year we focus our efforts on supporting over 250 participants who are engaged in our programmes. We will offer festive celebrations whilst continuing to run over 12 projects throughout December.

During the winter months we will help local organisations to do more for people in South West Edinburgh. Offering access to meaningful support with a warm place to meet and access to free hot meals.

  • Big Hearts Kindness Appeal

This festive season, Big Hearts will team up with Cash for Kids to ensure young people in need across South West Edinburgh get to open a present on Christmas Day. The ‘Big Hearts Kindness Appeal’ initiative will see our charity lead on the collection of toys and games from our supporters to go to young people supported by Big Hearts.

  • Winter Lunch Club

For the very first time, Big Hearts will open the doors at Tynecastle Park to offer a free hot meal. We are delighted to be working in partnership with Cyrenians to be able to host a weekly winter lunch club, which is available to anyone in the community who could benefit from this service during the winter of 22/23.

  • Gorgie-Dalry Funding

This winter we will work with local organisations and grassroots groups within the Gorgie and Dalry area, providing small grants to help them create and expand activities for local residents. Big Hearts will distribute funding of up to £2000 each to allow for extra activity days, offer additional free sessions and extend food and meal provisions.
