Today, Big Hearts announces that our team is joining a new Community Mental Health Partnership which has been formed to support the mental health of young people, with funding from the Scottish Government via the City of Edinburgh Council.

We are delighted that this partnership has created a new job opportunity to work as part of our growing staff team. The new fixed term Young People’s Support Officer role will focus on providing one-to-one support to children and young people referred to us for mental health support.

Over the past 18 months, Big Hearts rose to the challenges faced during the pandemic and supported three times more adults and children than in the previous year.

We are now looking to recruit a Young People’s Support Officer who will work 37.5 hours per week within our staff team.

The new staff member will play a key role in the referral process for children and young people joining our existing projects. Working one-to-one to support the delivery of group work and monitoring the progress of individuals in South West Edinburgh.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Big Hearts is recognised as one of the leading football charities in Scotland, widely praised for the standard of support services and the positive impact generated across Edinburgh.

The Young People’s Support Officer will work full-time within our staff team, to lead our work supporting children and young people aged 5-24 years.

Every month, Big Hearts provides tailored support to over 80 children and young people through four of our existing projects.

This role will help plan, deliver and coordinate Big Hearts’ work to support children and young people through a number of initiatives, including face-to-face groups and events.

This is the perfect role for someone who has experience within the charity sector, and particularly with experience of working with children and young people around their mental health and wellbeing.

This is a fixed term role for 3 years, which may be extended subject to funding.
