Supporting Big Hearts’ efforts to improve outcomes of children during the summer break, DPS Group steps up to help deliver School’s Out! at Tynecastle Park.

Big Hearts is delighted to reveal the support from DPS Group towards their brand new summer project. School’s Out! aims to offer educational activities and lunch to local pupils identified as most isolated. Big Hearts has been working closely with the schools in the Gorgie/Dalry area to maintain a level of support for these young people over the summer months.

DPS Group, through their Local Heroes Fund, has enabled the charity to provide breakfast snacks and a nutritious lunch every day for a group of 20 young people from P3 to S1. In addition, the children got to enjoy a host of daily activities including baking workshops, arts & crafts, owls petting and music tuition.

Big Hearts is delighted to receive further support from DPS Group to help reduce social isolation in South West Edinburgh and create opportunities for young people to thrive outside school term. School’s Out! is a new strand to our existing partnership which started in 2015 and sees DPS Group sponsor free places for vulnerable children to attend Heart of Midlothian’s holiday football courses throughout the year.

To date over 130 young people including children in Kinship Care and Syrian refugees benefited from these sponsored activities, allowing them to make new friends, improve their wellbeing and increase their social connections in the community.

Martin Brownlee, DPS Group Director says:
“We are delighted to be able to support the new Schools Out! project. As a company, DPS Group is committed to supporting the communities in which we work and live. Big Hearts is undertaking some phenomenal work with families in real need and I’m really pleased we were able to continue lend a hand to this new initiative.”
