Staff update & new job opportunity at Big Hearts!

Big Hearts is delighted to open a new opportunity to work as part of the charity’s team, following the internal promotion of an existing staff member.

After a significant growth in 2019, where Big Hearts supported more vulnerable people than ever before, we will see our Volunteer Development Officer, Innes Shirreff move into a new role as Operations Manager of the charity.

Innes joined Big Hearts in July 2016 to coordinate the launch and development of our Volunteer Programme. His new position at Big Hearts will see him oversee our various projects and focus on developing our work to support even more individuals and families at risk of social isolation.

Big Hearts is now looking to recruit a new Volunteer Development Officer to join our staff team on a full-time basis, working in our offices at Tynecastle Park. Responsibilities will include recruiting, inducting, managing and recognising the achievements of Big Hearts’ volunteers.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Big Hearts’ Volunteer Programme was launched over 4 years ago and designed to give Hearts’ fans the opportunity to volunteer on charitable projects at the Stadium and across Edinburgh – using their free time to support those most in need.

Since then over 350 individuals, known as Big Hearts Supporters, have given their time to support our charity, completing an average of 4,000 volunteering hours annually. The success of this model led Big Hearts to be the first football charity in the UK at the time to be recognised by the Investing in Volunteers award, the quality standard for good practice in volunteer management.
