Big Hearts Trustee and Hearts Chairwoman Ann Budge has been unveiled as new Patron to Care & Repair Edinburgh, a charity providing a vital lifeline service to vulnerable people across the city.

Ann Budge takes up the role which was previously held by Scottish actor Brian Cox which will continue to strengthen the existing partnership between the organisation and Hearts’ official charity Big Hearts.

Care & Repair Edinburgh provides practical support to allow older and disabled people stay safe, independent and comfortable in their own homes. A group of 8 Big Hearts Supporters are currently volunteering with the charity, offering their DIY and technology skills to make a positive difference.  Within the past 12 months they have carried out close to 500 jobs for Care & Repair’s clients across Edinburgh.

Ann Budge, Chairwoman and Chief Executive of Heart of Midlothian said:
I am delighted to be giving my support to a local charity which is doing fantastic work across Edinburgh. I became aware of Care & Repair as a result of the strong and successful partnership already in place with Big Hearts and I look forward to this continuing in the future. Our Big Hearts Supporters continue to make a significant difference to many in need across our community and I am glad to be joining them in a small way, by supporting such a worthy local charity”.

Louise Love, Chief Executive of Care & Repair Edinburgh added:
On behalf of our Trustees, staff and volunteers, I am delighted to announce that Ann Budge has agreed to lend her support by becoming Care & Repair Edinburgh’s new Patron. I looked forward to working with Ann over the coming months and to strengthening even further our partnership with Big Hearts Community Trust.”
