We Are Back: Memories Group Returns to Tynecastle Park!
Big Hearts are delighted to welcome the reminiscence Memories Group back to Tynecastle Park after 18 months.
Following the latest Government guidance, our charity hopes to offer this as a gradual return to small groups to attend from 24th August 2021. Sessions will take place in our community space ‘The Shed’ with the support from Kim Ogilvie our new Project Officer.
To pilot the return, Big Hearts’ reminiscence programme will be available to previous participants on 3 dates:
- 24th August 2021
- 31st August 2021
- 7th September 2021
Our staff team will be in touch over the next few weeks to coordinate attendance in line with guidance on maximum numbers.
The Memories Group is designed to help older people recall fond memories from the past, using a set of archived images and themed memorabilia.
By stimulating memories and sharing stories, the group sessions help build positive social connections between participants.
Edinburgh and Football Memories are led by a team of trained Big Hearts volunteers and welcome guests from a wide range of backgrounds, including people living with dementia, stroke survivors, care homes patients and over 65s at high risk of loneliness.
Since the start of the pandemic, Big Hearts created ‘Memories at Home’ parcels and hosted ‘Memories in the Park’ meets at Saughton Park Rose Gardens to continue to maintain social connection.
