Kinship Family Day 2016

We are delighted to be celebrating one year of Big Hearts’ Kinship Care Programme by holding a Kinship Family Open Day on Monday October 24th, the last day of the October school break, between 11am and 3pm.

Big Hearts Kinship Care Programme was launched at last year’s family day, which was one of first of its kind in Scotland. Last year’s event was a huge success with over 250 children and adults from a kinship setting in attendance. This year’s open day is set to be bigger and better with even more fun filled activities planned for all.

On the day there will be a range of different activities for the whole family to enjoy including football coaching, stadium tours and music making, in unique surroundings at Tynecastle Stadium. There will also be the chance to meet some of the current Hearts’ first team squad. A fantastic buffet lunch will also be provided for all in attendance.

A marketplace of stalls will also feature on the day with over 15 partner charities and organisations confirmed as attending. They will all be looking to provide carers with some valuable information on the various forms of support available to them.

This event is open to all Kinship Care families and those wishing to attend should email kinship@bighearts.org.uk for more information and/or to register.

Big Hearts General Manager, Caryn Kerr:

“We are delighted to be holding our 2nd Kinship Family Day which marks one year of us launching our Kinship Care Programme.”

“Over that period we know we’ve helped, along with our partner Mentor, make a significant difference to lots of families by providing ongoing support at our Kinship Care After School Club and through other activities.”

“One thing we are sure of is the fantastic job that kinship carers do in very difficult circumstance and we want to celebrate this at the family day whilst also raising the profile of Kinship Care in Scotland.”
