Join Our Big Hearts Care & Repair Team!

Big Hearts is delighted to be working with Care & Repair Edinburgh to provide practical services to older and disabled people in South West Edinburgh, allowing them to lead independent lives at home.

This new project sees volunteers play a vital role and we need your support to make this a success.

There are two main volunteering opportunities available.

DIY/Handyperson Volunteer

Our DIY volunteers will help people feel more secure in their home and less isolated by offering a range of services. This could range from changing a light bulb to fitting a door chain or fixing window locks. It is important to note you do not need to be outstanding at DIY.

The most important attribute is a desire to help!

Technology Support

Another role which is vital, is providing support with technology. An older person being able to access Skype could transform the way they keep in touch with family who live far away and reduce the chance of isolation. Other possible requirements include setting TV’s and Radio’s as well as supporting with other computer needs to ensure they are being used in the best and most productive ways.

We are hosting an information session for this opportunity on Monday 19th of September from 6pm in the Directors Suite at Tynecastle and any interested supporters are welcome to attend.
