Our Christmas Foodbank collection in aid of the Community One Stop Shop, the local foodbank in Broomhouse, has been a great success: hundreds of local families will benefit during the festive season and even for few more months after the new year!

Today, Big Hearts is delighted to reveal that hundreds of families will benefit from the donations collected in partnership with Jambos Kickback. Before the game Hearts vs Ross County in November, Hearts supporters donated 795kgs of supplies at the collection point in Gorgie Dalry Stenhouse church. With an additional £200 donated on the same day, the foodbank was able to support 112 families with enough food & supplies for a whole month! In the following weeks, an outstanding £1,800 were raised online through the Hearts fans forum Jambos Kickback – and 100% of the money will go directly to the Broomhouse foodbank, without any service fees. These funds will allow the foodbank to provide local families with enough tinned meals for the next 10 months!

Jennifer Benson from the One Stop Community Shop said: “Almost 800 kgs of donations is a fantastic help for us at this time of the year, where we receive people from all over the city. With an additional £2,000 from the Hearts support, we will be able to buy much needed supplies and ensure families will get bags of healthy food for Christmas, and even for few more months after the new year.”

Paul Rendall from Jambos Kickback said: “We have members from all over the world, who are keen to play their part in supporting the community. Our online fundraising appeal on Jambos Kickback has allowed them to do so with the guarantee that 100% of the money would go to the Broomhouse foodbank. We are delighted with the amount raised and the difference it will make for many local families struggling during the festive season.”

Charlotte Cailliez from Big Hearts said: “This year’s foodbank collection in aid of the Community One Stop Shop has been a great success and we would like to thank Jambos Kickback for managing the online fundraising. Once again, the support from the Hearts family has been incredible – close to 800kgs of donations and £2,000 raised in just a few weeks. Thank you to all the big hearted Jambos involved, you can be very proud of what you’ve achieved!”
