Event Successes – Volunteering Opportunities Now Live!

In the last week Big Hearts held two very successful key events as we launched the volunteering element of our Big Hearts Supporter Movement.

On June 2nd we held our first ever Big Hearts Charity Open Event, where we welcomed over 40 local charities and organisations.

At the event those in attendance heard from Caryn Kerr, on Big Hearts ambitious plans to create numerous partnerships with local organisations around volunteering. Douglas Maxwell from Volunteer Scotland also gave an input based on the consultancy work he had carried out for Big Hearts. And Finally Sarah Latto from Children 1st revealed how hosting a Big Hearts Volunteer has worked for them.

Last night we welcomed over 65 Big Hearts Supporters who had all expressed an interest in volunteering and after receiving a welcome from Heart of Midlothian’s Chief Operating Officer, Scot Gardiner, these individuals were introduced to the first lot of opportunities which are now available at www.bighearts.org.uk/my-big-hearts. These opportunities are all varied with regards to time, experience and skills required and we believe that given time we can create a list of roles which can meet individual needs and wishes.

Across both events it was revealed that we hold over 700 notes of interest in volunteering from Big Hearts Supporters! To meet this amazing and unprecedented demand Big Hearts has began forming partnerships with local organisations who will benefit from the amazing commitment and efforts of our volunteers. These volunteers will remain as representatives of Big Hearts when volunteering in the community and working together we believe we can make a significant difference to local families and individuals in need across our community.
