Today Big Hearts, represented by Trustee Ann Budge, launched the 2018 Edinburgh Cheer campaign with Joe Fitzpatrick, Minister for Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing at the Scottish Government and our partners NHS Lothian, Edinburgh Evening News, Tesco, Hibernian, Network Rail and Police Scotland.

Edinburgh Cheer is a city-wide partnership with a simple aim at its heart – to help make Scotland’s Capital the kindest city during the festive period. Following on the positive outcomes of last year, Big Hearts is delighted to continue as lead partner in this unique initiative which see the city’s two major football club communities come together to support those most isolated and vulnerable over Christmas and the New Year.

CHRISTMAS DAY DINNER AT TYNECASTLE PARK

For the second year Tynecastle Park will be host to a free festive dinner on Christmas Day, providing good food and company to those identified as most in need. Big Hearts has been working closely with Tesco which will provide the food for the meal, goody bags for guests and enable members of staff to volunteer on the day.

Following customers’ vote in the Tesco stores our charity has also been awarded a £4,000 grant from the Bags of Help fund to support our Christmas programme. Hearts’ midfielder Harry Cochrane joined Edinburgh Cheer to share this fantastic news.
