Big Hearts Gala: Over 15,000 raised at our first Gala fundraiser!
A wonderful night of entertainment in aid of charity was had by all last Saturday, as Big Hearts welcomed over 250 guests to celebrate our first Gala Fundraiser at Tynecastle Park.
We are delighted to reveal the final amount collected on the night which represents over £15,000! As charity of Heart of Midlothian FC, Big Hearts uses football to support families affected by poverty & social isolation. The Big Hearts Gala 2019 was set up to help further our reach and support in 2020, and the money raised at the event will go a long way in setting up a new mental health project aimed at young people.
Hosted by BT Broadcaster Connie McLaughlin and Ex-Radio Forth Mark Martin, the #BigHeartsGala offered a rare chance for Hearts’ fans to spend a night out at Tynecastle Park whilst celebrating the power of football to change lives.
For many the key-highlight of the night was hearing stories from our guest of honour, former Hearts & Juventus Defender Pasquale Bruno, who took the stage along with 2012 Scottish Cup Winners Andy Webster & Gary Locke.
More iconic personalities came along to show their support to Big Hearts, including Hearts Legends Jim Jeffries & Garry Mackay, First Team Captain Christophe Berra and current Interim Manager Austin McPhee – who led Hearts to a 5-2 win against St Mirren earlier in the day.
All photos from the night are available on our Facebook Gallery.
The silent and live auction of rare signed memorabilia & VIP experiences raised over £9,000 alone, with the highest bids going to a match issued 2006 Scottish Cup Final Rudi Skacel signed top & a 50-year old rare single cask Anniversary Whisky produced by The North British Distillery.
As part of their Gala ticket, our guests got to enjoy a 3-course fine dining meal from the award-winning hospitality team of the Stadium, and a complimentary cocktail reception from Diageo – the world leader in whisky, beer & gin brands.
A massive thank you to everyone who came along to support our charity and helped make this first fundraiser a success : volunteers, supporters, former/current Hearts players & managers, Big Hearts partners and Gala sponsors. Roll on the #BigHeartsGala 2020!
